2024 International Terroir Symposium Records Huge Success

We are excited to share the wonderful news that the 7th International Terroir Symposium (the “Symposium”), organised by TasteSpirit & TerroirSense, was successfully held from November 22nd to 24th in Shanghai, a great success beyond the expectations of all winegrowers, according to Mr. Thibault Liger-Belair, president of Association Internationale des Terroirs. The continuous interest and support of great terroir wineries and all partners from all over the world, played a crucial role in making this event a resounding success, and we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you.

Video Highlights of 2024 International Terroir Symposium

A Celebration of Terroir Excellence

Organized by TasteSpirit & TerroirSense, this year’s Symposium brought together 196 distinguished wineries from 16 countries around the globe, showcasing over 1,000 exceptional terroir wines. The event featured insightful presentations from more than 50 top international winery owners and terroir experts, as well as representatives from 10 fine Chinese wineries and 55 top fine wine importers.

The Terroir Culture Seminar, held on November 22nd has been included in the official list of “Celebration of 60th anniversary for the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France ”at Chinese and French Foreign Affairs Ministries. This seminar was attended by many distinguished speakers including:

  • Mr. Guillaume Gomez, Personal Representative of the President of the French Republic for Gastronomy and Ambassador of France for gastronomy

  • Mr. Yann Juban, Deputy Director General of International Organization of Vine and Wine(“OIV”)
  • Mr. Linhai Hao Former Deputy President of the People’s Government of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

The evening concluded with a Prestigious Dinner in celebration of the friendship between France and China, which was equally well-received by all attendees.Both the Seminar and the Prestigious Dinner were met with high praise for their insightful discussions and exceptional hospitality.

On November 23rd and 24th, a series of remarkable events took place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel of Pudong. 7 high level masterclasses were professionally organised, attracting 450 professionals and connoisseurs.

In addition, the Grand Terroir Wines Salon, featuring wines from various regions around the globe, welcomed a multitude of professionals and enthusiasts from all over China. Following the International Workshop on Vine and Wine Industry Cooperation by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China on the morning of November 23rd, Mr. Bertrand Lortholary also visited the Grand Terroir Wines Salon.

The events culminated in a Gala Dinner in the form of la Paulée to celebrate the successful completion of the three-day International Terroir Symposium.

This remarkable gathering not only provided an invaluable platform for networking and deepening connections, but also served as a celebration of the philosophy of terroir and artistry of winemaking. With over 3,000 wine enthusiasts and professionals in attendance. The Symposium has firmly established itself as a cornerstone event for both the international and Chinese wine communities,“equivalent the event The Wine Experience of Wine Spectator” commented by several top professionals from France.
