In part 2 of the “Amazing Alsace: New and Recent releases, part 2 (H-Z)” article, that is the follow up to part 1 (A-G), Editor-in-Chief Ian D’Agata details the new and recent releases of another 20 or so Alsace wine estates and over of their wines. These two parts combine to make one of the most complete and longest English-language article ever written on Alsace wines from a wine expert who has been visiting the region professionally since 2000, as much as up to five times a year. Enjoy!
As was already clear by the numbers of some extremely high scoring wines in part 1 of this article, Alsace makes some of the world’s most exciting wines (white wines, especially). In this follow-up article describing the wines of some of the region’s best-known and most famous wineries, for example Hugel, Trimbach, Domaine Weinbach and Zind Humbrecht, this becomes even more obvious, with some truly memorable wines in the mix. Clearly, all is not well with Alsace, a wine region that has the same problems of many other wine regions all over the world. But the region’s best wines are unforgettable, and like nothing else available anywhere.
