En 2024, ils ont repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 24 % des exportations. C\u2019est aussi un march\u00e9 historique, tr\u00e8s ancien, et tr\u00e8s favorable, car les Bourguignons sont pr\u00e9sents aux \u00c9tats-Unis depuis plusieurs d\u00e9cennies, parfois depuis 50 ou m\u00eame 80 ans. La plupart des exportateurs et producteurs bourguignons ont tiss\u00e9 des relations tr\u00e8s \u00e9troites avec le march\u00e9 am\u00e9ricain. Plusieurs d\u2019entre eux ont m\u00eame des liens capitalistiques avec leurs importateurs aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Certains producteurs bourguignons sont eux-m\u00eames install\u00e9s et produisent du vin aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Il s\u2019agit donc d\u2019une relation extr\u00eamement \u00e9troite et imbriqu\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"921\" data-end=\"1489\">La nouvelle guerre commerciale qui s\u2019ouvre au niveau mondial, avec les taxes annonc\u00e9es par le pr\u00e9sident Trump avant-hier \u00e0 hauteur de 20 % sur les vins fran\u00e7ais, est une situation grave et pr\u00e9occupante. On sait d\u00e9j\u00e0 qu\u2019on va perdre des parts de march\u00e9 importantes aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Nous avons connu une situation similaire il y a cinq ans : entre 2019 et 2021, nous avons subi 25 % de taxes et perdu environ 25 % de notre chiffre d\u2019affaires. Nous pensons donc que cette fois encore, nous pourrions perdre environ un quart de notre chiffre d\u2019affaires sur ce march\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1491\" data-end=\"2150\">C\u2019est une situation qui impacte pratiquement tous les producteurs bourguignons, car la majorit\u00e9 d\u2019entre eux exporte leurs vins vers les \u00c9tats-Unis. Ce qui m\u2019inqui\u00e8te au-del\u00e0 de \u00e7a, c\u2019est que je crains que ce ne soit le d\u00e9but d\u2019une r\u00e9cession \u00e9conomique mondiale. On assiste \u00e0 un v\u00e9ritable changement dans les conditions du commerce international, avec une nouvelle guerre commerciale, du protectionnisme mis en place par certains pays comme les \u00c9tats-Unis, la mise en \u0153uvre de barri\u00e8res tarifaires et de taxes \u00e0 l\u2019importation. Nous esp\u00e9rons que cette situation ne va pas se g\u00e9n\u00e9raliser au reste du monde. Il existe encore des possibilit\u00e9s de n\u00e9gociation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2152\" data-end=\"2507\">Pour nous, producteurs fran\u00e7ais, c\u2019est l\u2019Europe \u2014 la Commission europ\u00e9enne \u2014 qui est en charge de n\u00e9gocier avec les \u00c9tats-Unis.<br data-start=\"2279\" data-end=\"2282\" \/>Des n\u00e9gociations sont en cours actuellement. Ce que nous esp\u00e9rons r\u00e9ellement, c\u2019est trouver des moyens de d\u00e9sescalade, de ramener tout le monde autour de la table des n\u00e9gociations, et d\u2019avoir des discussions raisonnables.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2509\" data-end=\"3211\">Ce que les producteurs fran\u00e7ais demandent \u00e0 la Commission europ\u00e9enne, c\u2019est de proposer une suppression compl\u00e8te des taxes \u00e0 l\u2019importation en Europe pour les vins am\u00e9ricains, en \u00e9change d\u2019une suppression \u00e9quivalente des taxes aux \u00c9tats-Unis sur les vins fran\u00e7ais et europ\u00e9ens. Le principe du &#8220;z\u00e9ro pour z\u00e9ro&#8221; a d\u00e9j\u00e0 fonctionn\u00e9 dans le secteur des spiritueux depuis 30 ans entre l\u2019Europe et les \u00c9tats-Unis. Cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s profitable, \u00e0 la fois pour les producteurs fran\u00e7ais \u2014 comme ceux de cognac \u2014 et pour les producteurs am\u00e9ricains de bourbon, qui ont su construire des march\u00e9s en Europe, tout comme les producteurs fran\u00e7ais de cognac ou d\u2019armagnac ont su b\u00e2tir de solides march\u00e9s aux \u00c9tats-Unis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3213\" data-end=\"3533\">On se rend bien compte que lorsque le commerce est encadr\u00e9, mais libre de taxes, on peut b\u00e2tir une v\u00e9ritable coop\u00e9ration commerciale, b\u00e9n\u00e9fique et profitable pour tous. Nous esp\u00e9rons pouvoir retrouver cette situation, mais pour l\u2019instant, il faut faire face \u00e0 une conjoncture du commerce mondial extr\u00eamement perturb\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3213\" data-end=\"3533\"><strong>English Version:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"52\" data-end=\"676\">The United States is the leading export market for Burgundy wines. In 2024, it accounted for 24% of exports. It is also a historic and longstanding market, and a very favorable one, as Burgundy producers have been present in the U.S. for several decades \u2014 sometimes for 50 or even 80 years. Most Burgundy exporters and producers have built very close relationships with the American market. Several of them even have capital ties with their U.S. importers. Some Burgundy producers are themselves established and producing wine in the United States. This is therefore an extremely close and deeply intertwined relationship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"678\" data-end=\"1164\">The new global trade war that is beginning, with the 20% tariffs on French wines announced by President Trump the day before yesterday, is a serious and troubling situation. We already know that we will lose significant market share in the U.S. We experienced a similar situation five years ago: between 2019 and 2021, we faced 25% tariffs and lost approximately 25% of our revenue. We therefore believe that this time again, we could lose about a quarter of our revenue in this market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1166\" data-end=\"1732\">This situation affects almost all Burgundy producers, since the majority of them export their wines to the United States. What worries me even more is the fear that this could mark the beginning of a global economic recession. We are witnessing a real shift in the conditions of international trade, with a new trade war, protectionist measures introduced by countries like the United States, and the implementation of tariff barriers and import taxes. We hope this situation will not spread to the rest of the world. There are still opportunities for negotiation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1734\" data-end=\"2036\">For us French producers, it is Europe \u2014 the European Commission \u2014 that is responsible for negotiating with the United States. Negotiations are currently underway. What we truly hope for is to find ways to de-escalate, to bring everyone back to the negotiating table, and to have reasonable discussions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2038\" data-end=\"2673\">What French producers are asking of the European Commission is to propose a complete removal of import taxes in Europe on American wines, in exchange for a complete removal of tariffs in the United States on French and European wines. The \u201czero for zero\u201d principle has already worked well in the spirits sector for the past 30 years between Europe and the United States.<br data-start=\"2408\" data-end=\"2411\" \/>It has been highly beneficial, both for French producers \u2014 such as those of cognac \u2014 and for American bourbon producers, who have successfully built markets in Europe, just as French producers of cognac or armagnac have built strong markets in the United States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2675\" data-end=\"2940\">It is clear that when trade is regulated but tax-free, it is possible to build real commercial cooperation that is beneficial and profitable for everyone.
